As a young person this is a question we ask ourselves at least once in our life. Who are We? This line is often accompanied by follow-ups such as: “Who are We in the Church?” What is our relevance? Are we relevant? Yes We Are!
Our purpose in this world is vital. We play a role which cannot be replaced or forgotten. The pattern of a lifetime is growing up, going through different phases, learning, maturing, achieving, establishing a standard and vision and finally passing the baton on. This is going to happen to each and every one of us. So what does this have to do with you?
When you were born, you entered this world with a purpose. Once you realise and accept that purpose, you begin to build yourself up. As you go through the process, you discover new skills and abilities. These skills and abilities then become your strengths and your strengths nurtures your purpose until it is fulfilled.
In Church, as a young person you should not be content with just going to church and going back home. You need to get involved in the Ministry. By doing so, you are growing in your relationship with God as well as discovering your calling in life. Your duty as a young person is to observe and learn until you are spiritually ready to carry the mantle from the previous generation. Don’t be quick to run behind a pulpit. Your good work begins on the streets. That’s your training ground. 1 Timothy 4:12 says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” Now is the time for you to set yourself apart from what is godly and what is not. Learn as much as you can because it will make you a better Christian. Remember the currency of heaven is souls, and if you as a Christian don’t know how to lead someone to Christ then what’s going to happen when you reach heaven? Now is the best time to learn on how to work in the field.
Matthew 6:33 says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
If you run after GOD, everything you will ever need will run after you.
