John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
The most humble and beautiful sacrifice ever known to man that a King, a God would give up His own life to save the lives of the ones He loves. A King who would suffer for the sins committed by us. He would do it just so He could have a relationship with us. He would die for us. He laid down His life so that we could freely come to Him. He washed away our sinfulness with His precious blood and made us new again.
The significance of the Cross, yes, the Cross that Jesus bore is very important in our lives. It reminds us of God’s love for us. We are reminded of what Jesus went through for us, the punishment we were supposed to face He faced it for us. 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” When we look at the Cross we are reminded of the second chance given to us in Christ Jesus.
The Cross opened the way for us to have a direct connection to God. We can talk to God and Him to us through Jesus. The Cross removed the old teachings of the law and brought to us new teachings through Jesus, the Son of God. The Cross taught us about love and showed us the unconditional love that God has for us. The Cross speaks forgiveness and grace.
1 Peter 2:24 says “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” The Cross gives us the authority to conquer sin, sickness and disease through Jesus.
The Cross is a great symbol in our faith as Believers of Christ. The Cross is the mark of our salvation.
